Slicin’ fingers at the ready mobile app fiends: the makers of the beloved ‘Fruit Ninja‘ and ‘Age of Zombies‘ are back.
Brissy games studio Halfbrick will be roadtesting a new game at Fortitude Valley‘s bar/diner/arcade Netherworld from 5pm tomorrow arvo.
As well as the exclusive on this ~new game~, the venue boasts 24 taps of local beers and Japanese and American bites, not to mention 15 pinball machines, and a heck o’ a lot of arcade games and classic consoles.
Last month, Halfbrick dropped a 13-episode ‘Fruit Ninja: Frenzy Force‘ animated children’s series on YouTube, and last year, everyone kinda shrugged when they found out ‘Fruit Ninja‘ was being made into a movie.
Just two weeks ago, Halfbrick CEO Shainiel Deo told ‘Tech Guide‘ at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose that he’s currently focused on developing ‘Fruit Ninja 2‘ for release in early 2018.
Deo said:
“I’ve always held back from ‘Fruit Ninja 2‘. I really wanted to make sure we were at a point where we could come up with something that was new but still in keeping with what ‘Fruit Ninja’ was about.“…Eventually, and I can’t give away too much about what’s in the game, we got to the point where we thought this is worthy of a sequel.“What we have now is really exciting and I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised.”
The original app was downloaded over a billion times – and only two of those were me, and one of those was (fun fact) allegedly former British PM David Cameron.
So maybe this test is for Fruit Ninja 2? What if you’re one of the first people to try it before it becomes ubiquitous on public transport across the world?
There’s no more info than that available at this time, but we’re already practicing two-hand swipe-slicin’ (not just on Tinder) to prep.
