Spyro The Dragon Is Copping A Shiny Remaster Like His Mate Crash Bandicoot

After the sterling success of the Crash Bandicoot remasters – which are very pretty reminders to us all that the notoriously unforgiving mechanics of early 3D platformers are why we all feel so spiritually empty these days – it was a matter of time before beloved purple dragon Spyro got a new coat of paint too.

Lo and behold, it’s confirmed. Activision has followed through after months of rumours and announced the Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox on September 21.

Much like the Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, the Spyro remaster will contain all three games in the series (Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, Spyro: Year of the Dragon) remastered in a new engine.

In a press release, Activision confirmed the game will have “improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics.” Whether they will do anything about Spyro’s insanely annoying voice, which is burned into my brain after 20 years, leaves to be seen.IT’S
