In today’s edition of The Internet Is A Truly Cooked Place, people are competing to see who can get banned from online children’s game, Club Penguin, the fastest.
Published by Disney, Club Penguin is an online game aimed at a younger audience. As such, it’s spruiked as a safe place and players are given bans for saying anything remotely profane.
With the game soon to close and be replaced by Club Penguin Island, the speed run has become somewhat of a bizarre sendoff that’s also hilarious.
Speed running is where gamers usually exploit glitches to complete games as quickly as possible. There are also rules around each game dictating what the players can and can’t do during their run.
So how quickly can you get kicked out of a children’s game? Extremely. The current record on Speedrun.com is by user 2KRN4U who managed get booted in a stunning 39.53 seconds. You can watch him do it below.
Devastatingly fast profanity there. According the official rules, the timer starts when the first input is made by the player.
“Time starts the moment you make your first input in your fresh web browser (using a guest account on Chrome is recommended). Make the account, make a temporary email, login, get banned.Time ends when the orange window pops up telling you that your penguin account has been banned. No bookmarks, clean clipboard, no autofill from already visiting the site, no preexisting email. Play as if you just installed the browser.”
Feel like competing? You’ve got until March 29 to give it your best bloody shot. The competition has only been running for 3 days, so there’s plenty of time to find a cheeky way to speed up that ban hammer.
