SA Throws Shade At NSW, Brings In Digital Driver’s License 1 Month Earlier

The South Australia government has announced it is set to be the first state in the country to forego physical driver’s licenses in favour of digital ones starting next month, in what some (ok, mostly me) are calling a super petty move, bringing it in one month before NSW was set to.

 NSW rn.

NSW announced earlier this year that the regional city of Dubbo was going to be the first place in the country to utilise the technology, which sees a government created app on your smartphone holding all your licenses, but that lil’ ol accolade has been snatched away by SA rolling it out state-fucking-wide bitches!

SA Police Minister Chris Picton revealed in a statement that learners, provisional, full or heavy vehicle licences would be made available to citizens digitally through the mySA app starting October, meaning Radelaide and co. peeps can cut-up that placcy card and use their phone for police checks and getting into pubs and clubs.

Here’s Picton talking about how fkn pumped he is to be the first to implement it nation-wde, before coughing “SUCK IT GLADYS” under his breath and making the jerk-off motion to a print out of the map of NSW (I assume):

I’m delighted South Australians will be the first in the country to benefit from a statewide roll-out of this leading technology – which will not only streamline licensing services but offer vastly heightened security when it comes to verifying licences.

The SA gov has also given some more info on security features of the app, which include a “shake-to-activate” feature which animates your drivers license to prove that it’s not a screenshot or something else susso.

South Strayan’s can get more deets and sign up for the incoming tech via the mySAgov website here.

As for NSW, I’m sure you’ll have another “first” soon enough babes. First state to completely decimate their night culture maybe? I mean, you’re pretty bloody close.
