If you’ve been hanging out for some wireless AirPod action, you’ll likely know that Apple delayed their launch for unspecified reasons. Originally slated for an October release, limited stocks were only released last week.
If you’re angry and want answers, gadget repair lords iFixit might just have them after tearing that shit apart. Literally.

Their teardown of the AirPods revealed the issues may not be with the earphones themselves, but rather the charging case. An x-ray of the hard-to-crack little fella showed areas of empty space and solder joint issues that “could be evidence of low quality standards, or a rushed product release.”
They also found that the battery within the case is big enough to charge the AirPods around eight times entirely and that a fuck-tonne of glue was used to put it all together.

And if you break them, you probably wont be able to repair them. iFixit gave them a score of 0 out of 10 for repairability. Yikes.
The good news, however, is that these bad boys are tough AF. After being dropped from a height of over 3 meters and going through an entire washing machine cycle, they still worked. They even continued to play music while submerged under fucking water. Sick.
