REJOICE: Netflix Are Finally Letting Us Download Shit To Watch On The Go

One of the sadder externalities of the streaming era of video is that you’re kinda always tethered to an internet connection – unless you’re on wi-fi or willing to drop bulk cash on data so you can watch Kickboxer on the train, then you’re shit outta luck.

Your friends and ours Netflix are making moves towards redressing that situation. With the latest app update, you can now download content onto your mobile device and watch it offline. You beauty.

One fairly large caveat right now: though Netflix plans to expand the offering, right now it’s only available for their original productions – think Orange is the New Black, The Crown, Stranger Things and so on.
“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their Stranger Things binge while on airplanes and other places where internet is expensive or limited,” said Eddy Wu, Netflix’s director of product innovation. You’re right, Eddy. We do.
