Sorry M8s, That PC Listing For ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Was Just A Placeholder

PC gamers are no doubt waiting anxiously for confirmation that Rockstar‘s upcoming epic, Red Dead Redemption 2, will be hitting the platform at some point after its console release. While many were excited to see a retail listing for the title pop up with a release date of December 2019, it was, unfortunately, just a placeholder.

European retailer, MediaMarkt, has told comicbook.com that the listing was based on speculation that the game will eventually be released on PC, but they don’t actually know when it’ll happen. The assumption is based on the fact that Rockstar’s last title, GTA V, made it to PC about 8 months after its console release.

“It’s true we had the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version listed,” a rep from MediaMarkt’s parent company, Wccftech, told comicbook.com. “I checked this with the games department at our HQ and got told that it’s something of a placeholder and that they count on it being announced sometime in the future (just as with GTA V for example). It is no longer listed as available for pre-purchase, though.”

It’s safe to assume that RDR2 will probably follow a similar path to GTA V, but given the original Red Dead never made it to PC, no one can really say for sure. If I were to guess, I’d wager it’ll make it across eventually, especially when you consider how massive GTA V was on the platform. PC gaming is also much bigger now compared to when RDR was released, so it makes sense for Rockstar to keep the market in mind.

The page was originally spotted by TechTastic‘s Niels Zomer, which you can see a screenshot of below.

So don’t lose hope just yet, PC gamers, I’m sure RDR2 will hit PC eventually. Hell, even Devolver is keen to make it happen.*

*They’re clearly joking.

RDR2 is out on Xbox One and PS4 this Friday, the 26th of October.
