QLD Drivers Will Soon Be Able To Put Emojis On Licence Plates Winky Face 100

From the 1st of March, Queensland drivers will be able to add emojis to their licence plates, which is absolutely phenomenal for the auntie in your life who loves to share a Minions meme or two.

The idea is being rolled out by Personalised Plates Queensland and will give you the option of adding one of five different emojis to your absolute beast of a car. You can add a laughing face, a sunglasses-wearing face, the heart-eyes one, a run-of-the-mill smiley, or a goddamn winky face if that’s that’s the kind of ~vibe~ you’re going for.

One of these stylish plates could be all yours for anywhere between $160 and $500.

Of course, you’ll need to be in Queensland to take advantage of the deal, but I’d assume that if it takes off, other states will begin offering the personalised plates as well. The police must be thrilled at the idea of reading these licence plates back in a tense situation. I can just hear it now: “in pursuit of a black Commodore with the plates, C-O-M-M-O followed by… [sigh] a winky face emoji.”

It’s uncertain whether other emojis will be added as options over time, but I reckon you can rule out anything suggestive or negative right bloody now. There’s no way the QLD government is going to allow the eggplant emoji onto a licence plate.
