Sony is finally gonna let you change your PSN ID starting at some point today, which is great news if you’ve been stuck with an awful outdated name for what feels like an eternity.

The first change will cost you nothing, but every subsequent change will set you back US $4.99 if you have PlayStation Plus, or US $9.99 if you don’t. It doesn’t look like Australian pricing has been announced just yet, but I’d say it’ll be somewhere around the $6 / $12 mark respectively.
Good news! All PS4 owners can change their online ID starting tomorrow.

You can change your PSN ID on your PS4 or via a web browser. As per the PlayStation Blog, you can see the steps for both below.
PlayStation 4:
Step 1: From your PS4 go to [Settings].
Step 2: Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
Web browser:
Step 1: Sign in to your account on the PlayStation Network and select PSN Profile in the menu.
Step 2: Select the Edit button that’s next to your Online ID.
Step 3: Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
The bad news, however, is that changing your name could mean you lose progress or user-generated content in some games. The main ones to note here are Everybody’s Golf, Disc Jam, ONRUSH, and LittleBigPlanet 3, but there are some others which could also cause lesser problems. You can check out the entire list here.
Finally, you’re free to change your name from AssMaster666 to something a little more appropriate for your new adult self. Or leave it how it is, I’m not your dad or anything.
Wanna see some fucked up rollercoasters. Of course you do, they’re right here.
