Two New Pokémon Games Are Coming Out This Year & We Just Squirtled

Nintendo confirmed that a brand new Pokémon RPG was in the works at E3 last year, and while we still don’t know a lot about that title, the company has just announced two brand new games coming this year, one of which you can suss right now.

First up, a game called Pokémon Quest will be coming to both the Nintendo Switch and mobile that let’s players explore somewhere called Tumblecube Island with “a team of up to three Pokemon”. It certainly looks interesting.

If you like the look of that one, you can actually grab it on the Switch right now. It’s free-to-start, so worth giving it at least a quick look. Ok, now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into the way more exciting stuff.

The Switch will be copping a new Pokémon RPG that’s a little more along the lines of what you’re probably expecting. It has two options which are assumedly the same game, just with a different base Pokémon – Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go: Eevee!

Long-time fans of the games will recognise the Kanto region from Pokémon Yellow, which these new titles are said to be based on. In other words, it’s kinda like a remake rather than an entirely new game.

Both Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go: Eevee! are due out on the Nintendo Switch on November 16 and are mainly played with a single JoyCon which allows players to mimic the throw action of the Pokéball. Speaking of which, there’s also a little Pokéball accessory option that lets you take your Pokémon into the real world if that’s something you’re into.

The game also connects with Pokémon GO and from what I can see in the trailer, allows you to swap Pokémon between the platforms. Pretty nifty. Both that and the fancy Pokéball can be seen in action in the trailer below.

If, like me, you were wondering whether this was the big new RPG game Nintendo was hyping us up for last year, good news – that’s still coming too, but not until next year.

Yeahhhh that’s the shit we want. Hook it to my damn veins. Until then, the other two games look decent enough to kill time with.
