Meet A Bloke Who Flies Hectic Drones For A Living & Bloody Well Loves It

Of all the wild careers born out of new technologies, being a professional drone videographer is definitely one of the coolest.

Craig Parry started out with drones about 6 years ago and since then he’s shot some pretty incredible stuff, but it’s not always an easy profession to get into.

“A lot of patience, a lot of frustration, a lot of crashes, but, you know, once I did that I had my foot in the door and I was a bit of a market leader in my area,” he told PEDESTRIAN.TV.

The pinnacle of his work so far, he says, was shooting actual bloody bears. “The coolest thing would have to be a kodiak bear in Alaska feeding on salmon on a waterfall,”  he said.

We caught up with Craig at Mt Hotham in Victoria as he worked on a job with Telstra. Using their powerful network, he live streamed snowboarder Rani Siregar hitting the slopes directly to Facebook. Not a bad day’s work, huh?

In terms of the future, you could say old mate keeps pretty busy, telling us about one helluva trip he’s got coming up.

“It’s always been on my bucket list to do with a drone, I’ll be heading over to Norway and I’ll be swimming with the orca and I’ll also be doing a lot of [filming with] drones with the orcas and the humpbacks,” he said.

He’s also heading over to Iceland to capture their glacial rivers. You can check out our full chat with Craig below.
