If you weren’t already pumped for Universal Studios‘ upcoming Nintendo themed world, it’s time to buckle the fuck up. Literally.
A US trademark filing for Super Nintendo World makes specific mention of “management or arrangement of kart racing,” which, to me, screams IRL Mario Kart.
It doesn’t quite confirm the attraction, but it’s a pretty good indication that it’s probably in the works. The trademark also mentions restaurants, Christmas tree decorations and a bunch of different kinds of clothes.
The theme parts are planned to pop up in Orlando, Hollywood and Osaka, with the latter being the first to open in time for the 2020 Olympic Games.
“Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo’s most popular characters and games,” Nintendo said during the announcement last year.
And if you simply cannot wait to fang around on a kart dressed as your favourite character, there are a whole bunch of Japanese places that do it already. Just mind the phone boxes, would ya?
