IKEA Now Has Handy Cardboard Boxes That Replicate Your “Meme-Ishly Oversized Gaming Console”

Ikea PS5 Xbox Series X

Gather round gamers, if you’ve ever worried about not being able to buy the perfect cabinet for your overly large gaming consoles, IKEA now has you covered, with brand new boxes that help you know just how fuck-off massive the PS5 and Xbox Series X are.

The boxes are designed to help customers who are browsing IKEA to find the perfect storage unit or TV cabinet for their gaming consoles. The image of IKEA’s helpful new tools was first posted to Imgur by user JFP1, and has had over 85,000 views so far.

However, in typical IKEA fashion, the company has included a little joke on the side of the faux consoles.

“Which IKEA media storage unit will be able to fit my new, meme-ishly oversized gaming console?” reads the side.

The measurements also ready things like ‘pretty much 6″‘ and ‘basically 12″‘. Suddenly I want to rush to IKEA just to enjoy their little jokes.

Naturally, the company probably didn’t want anyone complaining that their storage unit wasn’t big enough for the massive consoles.

The size of the PS5 and Xbox Series X has been memed into oblivion since they were first announced, with folks online comparing the size of the two boxes to enormous everyday objects to give a sense of scale.

For all my maths nerds out there, the PS5 is 39cm tall, 26cm deep and 10.4cm wide, while the Xbox Series X is 30.1cm tall, 15.1cm deep and 15.1cm wide. For all my non-maths nerds out there, the boxes are very big, and here are some memes about them.

The PS5 next to a house plant is probably the first time that I’ve truly understood how tall this damn box really is. No wonder IKEA is out here warning folks.

If you’ve ever wanted to know what one of these big boys taste like (sorry for that sounding so sexual), Kotaku has done the tough job of licking the consoles and their controllers to pin-point which one tastes better. The more you know!

If you need me, I’m going to be browsing the IKEA maze in search of one of these measurement boxes, because they look handy AF.
