Some Facebook users are beginning to notice a new icon at the bottom of their smartphone application. A cute little button in the shape of a rocket ship.
Have you got the cutesy rocket ship? What fresh nonsense does it hold? Allow us to explain.
What the heck is the rocket icon in Facebook for? pic.twitter.com/yBh7tUzeJq

Users who have the new feature are part of a new trial for the site’s second News Feed. Yep, they’re doin’ another one. The button simply allows you to toggle between the two.
See, your normal News Feed displays content that you like because you chose to follow the pages it comes from. The new Explore feed, however, will show pictures and videos based on your activity, even if you don’t follow the source.
Facebook hope the new feature will encourage users to interact with content that falls outside of their curated feed. It will also present thoughts and opinions that people would otherwise never see, challenging the content they’re used to seeing – an entire feed’s worth of agreeable stuff.
The company are yet to confirm whether the second feed will be available for all users. At this stage, it looks as though the rocket is making its way onto Apple phones.
Get ready to open your minds, maannnnn.
