Google’s Experimenting With AI That Freestyles Raps From Pics On Your Phone

Watch out musicians and rappers, Google AI is coming for your slick tracks.

As part of the company’s massive obsession with machine learning of late, they’ve been working on a bunch of creative experiments that are actually really fucking cool. One such AI-driven slice of witchcraft is called Giorgio Cam, an app that creates music about whatever you take a picture of.
It works by combining image recognition powered by machine learning, speech synthesis and music provided by Italian DJ and synth lord, Giorgio Moroder. It probably won’t churn out any chart topping bangers anytime soon, but hey, it’s a glimpse at where we’re heading.
I, for one, yearn for a day when Yeezy can rap-battle an actual robot. Maybe even one shaped like a crab, why not?
You won’t be able to download it just yet, but the code is available for you to fool around with if you’re savvy enough to harness it. It’s nothing new on the image recognition front, but it’s certainly the most music-driven one.
Check out how it works in the demo below.
