Google Maps Will Soon Automatically Wake You Up Before Your Bus Stop

If you’re prone to falling asleep on the last train home after a mammoth night out, you’ll probably wanna get into this new Google Maps update.

It’s not out just yet, but the company is reportedly testing an update that will guide you along every step of your public transport journey. Probably not all that great for your day-to-day travel, but fantastic if you’re pissed and need a reminder of when to get your ass off the train, or when travelling in a new or unfamiliar area.

Once implemented, there’ll be a Start button at the bottom of your public journey when public transport is selected, much like there is for standard navigational journeys. Google Maps will then send you notifications in the app and on your lock screen, so you’ll know exactly when and where to go.

There’s no word on exactly when this will become available to everyone, but Google is rolling out it to random users for testing, so you can check your app to see if you’re one of them.

If not, you’ll just have to do it the old fashioned way – check TripView for when your train gets to your stop, set an alarm 2 minutes before that time and hope for the best.
