Speaking with IGN, the lead designer of extremely popular Battle Royale game ‘Fortnite‘ has spilled a moderate amount of beans on Epic Games‘ plans for a new map.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, folks, but a new map just isn’t that high a priority for the team at the moment, design lead Eric Williamson said on IGN’s Expert Mode.
“We’ve talked a bit about this internally,” he said. “We just had the big map update and we learned a lot through that process.”
“There’s no urgency for us to create a new map right now. It’s not a priority right now, whereas continuing to evolve and make the map feel fresh is something we’re very excited and interested about. So stay tuned; we have some interesting ideas.”
In other words, nothing huge seems to be in the works right now, but instead, it looks like the team will be making continued changes to the current map in order to alter how it plays.
There’s a lot of talk at the moment about how the comets appearing in the sky might have something to do with an imminent change to the map. According to a bunch of rumours, the incoming bodies might completely destroy part of it.
So there you go, friends, don’t expect a brand new arena any time soon, and don’t get too comfortable with the current map’s layout, because it’s liable to get fucked up.
