You Could Now Win $398K Playing ‘Farming Simulator’ So Get Ploughing, Bitch

If you reckon you could slay some simulated farming better than anyone else, you might just be able to make some money out of it. Farming Simulator developer, Giants Software, has announced a “full-fledged esports league” for the title, packing a total prize pool of €250,000 ($398,535 AUD).

Ten tournaments will be held across Europe in Farming Simulator 19, which was released late in 2018. While championship competitions have been held for the series previously, there is now a proper 3 vs 3 competitive mode on the way, as opposed to the simple bale stacking of yore.

“Competitive farming is something people enjoy for years now, but it hasn’t been done in eSports so far,” Giants Software CEO and esports division manager, Christian Ammann, told Gamasutra.

“We have lots of eSports enthusiasts in our company who can’t wait to show the world that farming can indeed be fun and competitive at the same time. We believe we found the right mix of real farming and fun to play game elements to ensure everyone will find it entertaining.”

As you can see in the tweet above, the team has already managed to get a bunch of sponsors on board, including tech giants Logitech and Intel. In other words, they’re not here to fuck spiders, folks.

If you’ve forgotten about just how goddamn sick Farming Sim 19 is, allow me to refresh your memory with the trailer below.

Hell yeah, bitch, plough that shit. More details about how the competitive modes will work are coming soon, but until then, you can pick up Farming Sim 19 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 right now if you’re keen to get some practice in.
