WATCH: Here’s What Being Nuked Looks Like In ‘Fallout 76’

fallout 76

With Bethesda‘s upcoming post-apocalyptic online RPG, Fallout 76, edging closer to release, folks are still wondering about how certain aspects of it will function. Now that the embargo on recently captured footage has been lifted, the answers are starting to trickle through, and we happen to have our very own footage of one of the more dramatic moments – dying in a nuke explosion.

I was lucky enough to head over to West Virginia‘s Greenbrier resort with Bethesda where myself and select media from around the globe finally got to lay our grubby hands on the Fallout title. In teams of four, we scoured the world in search of loot, blew the shit out of some mutants, and started a fight club on the streets. I’ll go into more detail about everything that happened in another yarn, so keep an out for that.

As part of Fallout 76’s endgame missions, you’ll get access to codes which will allow you to launch nukes to a part of the map, straight-up obliterating anyone close enough on impact, or killing those nearby with radiation. At the end of our three-hour demo, we were treated to a spectacular view of such an event and for shits and giggles, I ran straight into it. As you’ll see, things, uh, didn’t end well for me.

Check it out in the video below. Just before I die, you’ll also see a message saying I’ve been mutated into a chameleon. I’m not entirely sure what that entails, but the mutations system a cool new part of Fallout.

I got to play my session with Aussie UFC champion Rob Whitaker, who you can see at the beginning of the clip (he’s menaibob) furiously beating the shit out of another player. We spent a good hour of the demo punching each other in the face because, well, why not?

We’ll also be putting our own gameplay footage up soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.
