Elon Musk’s Planned Tunnel Conveniently Runs Past His Los Angeles Home

If you had an unthinkable amount of money and your own tunnel boring machine, what would you do? Duh, you’d dig yourself some sweet fucking tunnels to avoid the street normies. That’s exactly what old mate Elon Musk plans to do.

The billionaire entrepreneur recently applied for a permit to complete the second segment of his ambitious tunnel that will run underneath LA to combat the city’s absolutely fucked traffic situation. While the company says its route has nothing to do with location, it conveniently runs from Musk’s office and past his $US70 million cluster of homes in Bel Air.

Of course, it starts at SpaceX because that’s the first place Musk was actually allowed to drill, which makes sense considering he owns the land. The tunnel, which is scheduled to be completed within 3 to 4 months, uses ‘electric skates’ to hurl cars along a track at up to 240km/h.

When completed, the usually 1 hour journey from home to work will take Musk only six minutes. Ooft.

Though he says it’s intended to be used by the public, he certainly gains the most out of the arrangement. The dude is legitimately building his very own Stonecutters tunnel.

Interestingly, LA’s Bureau of Engineering hasn’t released the details of the permit request, but the city’s mayor, Eric Garcetti, is absolutely frothing on the idea.

Musk has also explained how the tunnel is going to work on Instagram. “First route will go roughly parallel to the 405 from LAX to [Highway] 101, with on/offramps every mile or so,” he wrote.

“It will work like a fast freeway, where electric skates carrying vehicles and people pods on the main artery travel at up to 150mph, and the skates switch to side tunnels to exit and enter. This is a big difference compared to subways that stop at every stop, whether you’re getting off or not.”

So there you go, Musk is a real world Stonecutter with a shortcut tunnel to work. Mad.
