Dirt gets a bad rap, IMO. It’s probably due to the fact that dirt makes you, well, dirty – but still, we’d be nowhere without our planet’s skin.
To begin with, if dirt didn’t exist, then we wouldn’t have been treated to Christina Aguilera‘s rather questionable ‘Dirrty‘ period (which would be an absolute travesty, as I’m sure you could agree). But besides the superficial, soil is the only reason humanity can tangibly survive. It’s responsible for things like the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the flowers we fill our homes with (jokes, who the hell actually has money for IRL flowers these days).
That’s why it’s outrageously important there are those among us who study the ground. Like, without them (literally) leaving no stone unturned, we’d be in a pretty crappy place right now. Don’t believe me? Fair enough, I ain’t no scientist. But if you won’t listen to me, then listen to legit soil scientist Sam Grover in the video below:
Who knew studying dirt could be such a sexy vocation, right? And that being said, science in general is one hell of a path to take in terms of job options.
If you’re game on heading down the same path as Grover, then consider following in her footsteps and study at La Trobe University. They’ve got a heap of science-related degrees on offer, as well as courses for pretty much anything else you can think of. You can learn more by heading HERE.
