The Streets of Rage franchise was born all the way back in 1991, bringing brawler thug action into the homes of Sega Genesis owners over the world. Announced last year, the series is getting a fourth entry, and today, it has a flashy new gameplay trailer.

Streets of Rage 4 ditches the traditional pixel art of the time for beautiful hand-drawn visuals without losing the overall feel of its predecessors. The trailer packs a synthy 80s soundtrack punctuated by the crisp notes of punches landing on virtual faces.
Take a look at the gameplay trailer below.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia talking, but I can’t fucking wait to get my hands on this bad boy. While the aesthetic is fresh and new, Streets of Rage 4 will feature some classic characters from back in the day.
“This gameplay footage finds our dear friends Axel and Blaze reunited and dishing out beatdowns – with all-new moves – to a fledgling group of ill-advised criminals in full force,” the trailer’s description reads.
There’s no solid release date for this just yet, but it’s currently in development with Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu. Hopefully, we’re not too far off because I want to juggle some punks in the air with my fists.
