There’s A Website For Finding Out If Something’s Been Cancelled

Have you ever thought about whether or not you’ve been cancelled? What about your best friend, or your idol? You home town, perhaps? Well, there’s a website that’ll let you check.

Celebrities have been getting cancelled at a pretty high frequency lately, but mainly because of their own suss behaviour so at the end of the day, it’s generally their own stupid fault. But what if you’ve got all the hallmarks of a cancelled person without the spotlight required for the actual cancelling? That’s where AmICancelled.com comes in.

It’s pretty straight forward, you punch in the name of a person, social media account, place, or thing, and the site’s “patented 6-point analytics” will do the rest. You’ll then be told whether the thing you entered in has been cancelled or not.

My social media accounts haven’t been cancelled, but when I enter my name, apparently, I have indeed been cancelled.

It should be noted, however, that there was a Witch-Finder General from the 1600s named Matthew Hopkins who is almost certainly cancelled, so it must be thinking of him. Do with this information what you will.

Created by @wipeyadocsoff, AmICancelled was first launched back in June of 2018 but has recently had a bit of a resurgence in use.

“We use patented 6-point analytics backed by our own battle-tested algorithms and big data collected from social media sites to determine whether or not an account, person, place, or thing been cancelled,” the site says.

“We’ve trained our system by feeding it information on known cancelled accounts, people, places, and things. We’re working everyday to improve the engine so our users can stay informed about how problematic they have become.”

Because I’m a good bloke, I’ve chucked a few important things through the site to see if they’ve been cancelled. Results below.

It’s a fun little piss-take on the whole cancelled culture thing and a good way to kill 5 minutes. If you’d like to give it a whirl for yourself, you can do so right here.
