Bethesda’s Joke Amazon Echo Port Of ‘Skyrim’ Is Actually Real, For Some Reason

That’s a relatively funny idea for a joke,” you might say, in response to Bethesda using a video of comedian Keegan-Michael Key to promote the clearly fictitious Amazon Echo port of Skyrim. Except, to some extent, it’s not a joke, what with the Skyrim: Very Special Edition appearing on the Amazon store shortly after it was ‘announced’.

To be clear though: it’s certainly still a joke in the sense that it was done for comedic effect, probably doesn’t contain a lot of depth, and would only ever actually be ‘played’ by a complete madman.

From this highly involved and exhaustive playthrough video from PC Gamer, it would appear that the gameplay consists entirely of you screaming at a machine that refuses to understand you while it delivers the sort of jokes that would play very well with people who don’t like their jokes to be too aggressively funny.

Functionally, it’s more or less just a ‘choose your own adventure’ book, but one that requires you to be unbelievably obnoxious to the people around you to play it:

You can watch the announcement trailer (I was going to put scare quotes around ‘announcement’ but I guess they proved me wrong my making it real, hey) below:

Now let’s see them put their money where their mouth is and actually make that smart fridge port.
