Bella Goth‘s iconic necklace has been appraised by an expert jeweler, finally putting to bet one of the great mysteries of The Sims. Alright, it’s not one of the greatest mysteries, but it’s still pretty damn interesting!
According to Kate Earlam-Charnley, design director at British jewelry company Taylor & Hart, Bella Goth’s necklace is worth a whopping £80,000 (roughly AU$140,000).
While that’s a pretty wild figure, it’s also not surprising since she came from old money and married into more money. And not just any money, but perhaps the most famous family in the entire Sims canon.
“Bella’s disappearance was a major plotline in The Sims 2, and the character has continued to appear in all the games since,” Earlam-Charnley said.
“The necklace she wears in the series definitely looks like it contains some other-worldly powers as the earthy green 70kt gemstone almost looks to glow in each instalment.”
Apparently, the gemstone on the necklace is a green sapphire and not an emerald. That’s sure to bump up the price.
The info comes from a ranking of the top 25 most expensive pieces of fictional jewelry from Western movies, TV shows and video games. It deems Bella Goth’s necklace to be one of the most valuable pieces of jewelry across pop culture in general.
According to that same list, Rose‘s ring from Titanic is apparently based on the Hope Diamond and thus worth around £254,000,000 (AU$455,500,000).
Other characters’ whose bling made the list include Princess Peach, Princess Zelda, and Pam from The Office. Lucky ladies, the lot of ’em!
