The iPhone 9 Is Rumoured To Have A Stylus, The Very Thing Steve Jobs Hated

Apple is apparently keen to jump in on the stylus game, with reports suggesting the company is planning to support for the tool for next line of iPhones. While it released the Apple Pencil back in 2015 for the iPad, there hasn’t been an official alternative for smartphones.

According to China’s Economic Daily News, two of the three iPhones expected to launch in September this year will support the Apple Pencil as an option, so you won’t have to use it if you don’t want to. It’s also not clear whether the company will be creating a new stylus product, or simply supporting the bulky Pencil as it currently exists. Third-party options have always been available, but it can be difficult to find ones that actually work.

While Apple’s competitors have always been quick to offer styluses as an option, late CEO, Steve Jobs, absolutely bloody hated them. Not a fan at all. “Who wants a stylus? You have to get em’, put em’ away. You lose them. Yuck,” Jobs said during the OG iPhone launch back in 2007. “Nobody wants a stylus. So let’s not use a stylus.”

In other words, Jobsy would be rolling in his damn grave if he knew Tim Cook caved to stylus pressure. I hope old mate likes being haunted by Steve Jobs’ ghost because that’s exactly what’s gonna happen. Big ghosty Steve just hurling ghost styluses at Cook while he sobs.

Some would argue it was just a matter of time before a stylus was offered for Apple’s phones, given the Apple Pencil was released only 4 years after Jobs passed away.

The company is expected to announce three new iPhone models during its September briefing, all of which will likely follow a similar design to the iPhone X.
