Zoella’s Flogging A Shithouse Christmas Advent Calendar That Costs $86

Ah, YouTubers. They could charge $500 for a used hanky and someone’d pay for it.

Zoella‘s come under fire this week for charging a whopping $86 for her 12-door advent calendar. That’s like, $7 per door – and when you hear what’s behind those teeny doors, you’ll understand why people are up in arms.

According to The Telegraph, the calendar contains a bauble, a small packet of confetti, a star-shaped cookie cutter, a pack of 7 (!!!) stickers, a small bag, two 130g candles, a 30ml room spray, a pen, a fluffy key ring, a gingerbread man-shaped cookie cutter, and a mini notepad.

I could probably buy all of that for under a fiver from the dollar shop.

The calendar is being sold at UK mega-store Boots, and it’s got a poor 1.5 stars due to it’s exorbitant price tag, with parents wringing their hands in despair.

“Parents do not buy! This calendar is worth £20 maximum. I am a huge fan of Zoella, however she has made a huge mistake with this,” one of the reviews says.

“Definitely not worth the money and very disappointing items within,” complains another customer.

Boots has since issued a statement that indicated the calendar will be half price – sneakily done during their “Christmas promotion”.

We are sorry to hear that the price of the Zoella 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar has disappointed a number of customers. We always listen to feedback. We will be offering the product at half price during our Christmas promotion, where the calendar will be on sale for £25 from Thursday November 16.The Zoella Lifestyle advent calendar is full of 12 exclusive treats which are all clearly listed on boots.com and cannot be purchased separately.

Here’s a video YouTuber Eltoria did on the calendar, if you want to see it all in action.

Sigh. It’ll probably still sell out tbh.
