Zimmermann Explores A Darker Mood For AW2012

For the Autumn/Winter 2012 season Zimmermann has taken the flirty, feminine aesthetic that it often draws on and infused it with more experimental textures, stronger silhouettes and tailoring, and a richer colour palette to mark a beautiful new, sophisticated direction for the brand. The collection, “Rebellion Is The Night”, demonstrates a different take on the label’s fondness for a floral. Here you can see the prints take on a more opulent, darker tone – evocative of a 1930s Chinese cheongsam, quite different from the pretty pastels of Zimmermann’s current summer range.

Designer Nicky Zimmermann has also evolved her exploration of texture, introducing woven brocade, fringing, velvet and stunning French lace, including a drop-dead ‘latte’ lace blouse which is one of several collection highlights – like the blossom-print silk jacket and cherry red trench. Winter ain’t all bad…
