Zara Oz Location Revealed & The Gap Opening Soon

The international mega chain invasion is imminent: The Gap, Uniqlo and Zara are all heading down under to open their first flagship retail spaces in the Australian market.

All-American retailer The Gap is set to open it’s first Aussie store this month in Melbourne and then a Sydney outlet will open in October – although the exact locations of the respective stores remain under wraps at this stage. Gap Australia will be tipping the quota on their database numbers thanks to a clever campaign on the Gap Australia website where bargain-hungry lovers of affordable basics can sign up to “be one of the first people” to find out the opening dates and exact locations of the respective stores.

It’s just been reported that ‘fast fashion’ giant Zara will open its first Australian store at Westfield’s Pitt Street Mall in Sydney. No other potential spaces for the Spanish brand at this point, however Westfield executive, Robert Jordan, told Fairfax: “We’re very excited to have the first Zara store in Australia… Our deal is not exclusive and I am quite sure they haven’t come all the way to Australia to open only one store.” So if you’re in Queensland, South Australia or WA don’t worry: there’s still hope that Zara’s affordable trend-driven clothing are heading to your ‘hood in the not-too-distant future.

For those unfamiliar with Zara’s sartorial offerings, here’s a look at the campaign for the Fall 2010 collection featuring German model Toni Garrn and shot by renowned fashion photographer David Sims via Fashion Gone Rogue.
