Young Boy In Critical Condition After Being Thrown From VIC Carnival Ride

A young boy is still in critical condition following a fall from a carnival ride in the Mornington Peninsula town of Rye last night.

The child suffered critical head injuries after falling from the Cha Cha ride, shortly after 5pm yesterday evening.
Paramedics were called immediately after. After an hour on the scene, he was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

A woman, who was on the ride with her own children at the time of the incident, said operators announced it would be the final ride of the evening.

She told reporters “I’m having to try and help my kids deal with what they saw.

“My thoughts and prayers are with this young boy and his family.”
Another witness to the incident said “It was so awful to see.

“I have a kid myself and the thought it could have been mine is shocking.”
WorkSafe is investigating the incident. Wittingslow Amusements, the carnival’s operator, has been contacted by several media outlets for comment.
