Iconic Adelaide club Sugar announced earlier this month that it is going up for sale.
The nightclub has famously hosted a plethora of incredible musicians, such as Moodymann, DJ Harvey, Tensnake, and Todd Terje, and has also famously hosted every young adult in Adelaide that “just wants one more drink before they go home” at 4am.
Owner Driller Armstrong made an announcement via Facebook, stating (in terms that would make any young Adelaidean emotional) that “Sugar remains one of the best nightclubs in the world”, and that he is “very proud of the opportunities [Sugar has] given to so many young people with a passion for music and art.”
He also said on Facebook,
“Contrary to popular belief Sugar has not ever been “for sale” in the 13 year history of the venue. Until today that is. Don’t be surprised to see the venue listed in the usual places visited by people looking to buy a business.”
He was not lying.
Yesterday, Sugar went up on Australian buy/sell website, Gumtree. Staff, security, fittings and all.
