Woman Necks Bottle Of Cognac To Avoid Surrendering It To Airport Security

We’ve all been there: you’re hoofing it through airport security when you’re stopped for carrying liquids that exceed 100ml aka fucking nothing.
In the bin it goes, never to be seen again, and you’re left cursing the strict protocols in place to preserve our safety.
Same thing happened to Zhao, a Chinese woman in her forties, who was stopped at a security checkpoint at Beijing Capital International Airport with an 700ml bottle of cognac in her carry-on baggage.
Exceeding the liquid limit by 600ml with her loot, airport staff informed her that it would have to confiscated and destroyed.
But she wasn’t going to waste a drop of the good stuff, oh no – this was Rémy Martin XO Excellence, valued at roughly AU$250 a bottle.
She did the only logical thing, and proceeded to down the entire bottle where she stood.
According to the South China Morning Post, Zhao almost immediately began “acting wildly and yelling incoherently”, before rolling round on the floor as anyone with blood alcohol level of 0.91487878 would probably do.
Police were called and – wouldyabelieveit – she was deemed “too drunk to fly”. Instead, they let her sleep it off in a wheelchair until an embarrassed AF family member could pick her up.
Though she never made her flight, let Zhao’s iron-clad resolve to bend the rules be an inspiration to us all.
