White Night Melbourne To Quadruple In Size For 2014 Return

White Night, the now annual event where you get to hang out in Melbourne’s CBD – wait for it – at night, is coming back bigger and more nocturnal than ever in 2014, with the huge success of the 2013 event prompting a fourfold increase in scale and Arts Capital Of Australia cred.

The program for the second White Night was announced today, which will see Melbourne will become a city that doesn’t sleep – from 7 PM on 22nd February until 7 AM the next morning, that is. Some of the more interesting additions to the program of events include the city-spanning Crepuscular Beam searchlights, an exhibition of Street Art and Tattoo Culture at the NGV, and non-stop Moonlight Synchronised Swimming demonstrations at the Melbourne City Baths, because seeing this shit late at night is a surefire way to ensure Melbournians have no desire to go to bed, lest their nightmares be haunted by a perpetually grinning, multi-limbed aquatic beast.

Returning favourites include the Wonderlands projections precinct, a main stage of music curated by Felix Riebl of The Cat Empire, and I Could Have Danced All Night, which turns Federation Square into a massive outdoor shapes-cutting facility.

Melbourne’s all night Arty Party takes place in Melbourne from 7 PM on February 14. Check out whitenightmelbourne.com.au for more details.
