WATCH: Two Pollies Engaged In A Heated Roasting Sesh During A Presser

State and federal pollies, when compelled to give joint press conferences some issue or another, tend to maintain at least a veneer of civility – even when they’re from opposing parties. It sucks, to be honest. The people would respect politicians a lot more if they actually stuck the boot in every now and then and showed a little ideological gumption beyond being careerist leeches.

Federal energy minister Josh Frydenberg and South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill traded barbs in a joint presser this morning about the expansion to the Snowy Hydro Scheme, where they took stabs at one another’s energy policies while several blokes stand behind them looking like they wish their faces didn’t occupy a single pixel of the frame.
“It is a little galling to be standing here next to a man who has been standing up with his Prime Minister bagging SA at every step of the way over the last six months,” Weatherill says, as Frydenberg stares icily into the camera.
Frydenberg shoots back by accusing Weatherill of using the conference as a way of “crash-tackling” the Federal Government:
I feel that the Premier trying to come into this to crash tackle us at this announcement where he hasn’t put any money into this important initiative, which the Commonwealth and AGL have, just shows you, unfortunately, how desperate he is. The Prime Minister should be commended for his leadership, for his investment in such a nation-building project. I actually think it reflects very poorly on the Premier that he has to engage in this type of petty politics.
Meanwhile, this bloke stands behind them looking either like he respects the roast or wants to die. It could go either way with this fella’s mug:
What a time to be alive.
