WATCH: Someone Left Their Car Below High Tide Mark In SA & Yep, It’s Fucked

It’s a universal experience: you’ve been driving around the block for so long that it feels like you’ve aged into a new demographic, when finally, miracle of miracles, you clock a parking spot. Elated, you lock up and take off to go about your business, feeling pretty smug – only to return to find that the ocean has inexplicably risen by several metres and your trusty Toyota is completely underwater.
No? Never happened to you? Well believe it or not it has happened, as evidenced by this harrowing footage captured by South Australian real estate agent Nick van Vliet at Aldinga Beach:

Not a good start for someone today. Don’t fall asleep in your car at the low tide mark. Aldinga Beach this morning.

He spoke to the Adelaide Advertiser about the bizarre incident:
“I was down at the beach with my wife and dog in the morning and we saw the car submerged in water so we went over to make sure no one was hurt. There was a lady that was already there and she said she had called police.

Thankfully there was no one inside.

We have noticed the same car before — it has Northern Territory plates — a few weeks ago.? There was a lady sleeping in there.

The last time we saw her, she had parked very close to the water as well. She must park by the water and forget the tide is coming up.”
People of the Northern Territory, please confirm that your population is familiar with the concept of tides, or alternatively, that no-one from your state has done something to really, really piss off Poseidon. Either way, best of luck with that upholstery bill.
