Watch sass & bide’s AW13 Show ‘Wintergate’ From London Fashion Week

Sass & Bide designers, Sarah Jane-Clark and Heidi Middleton, have just finished showing their AW13 collection, an affair to remember titled ‘Wintergate’, at London Fashion Week.

Speaking with style.com, the designers said the collection was “born from a curiousity about man-made objects. We wanted to study the internal mechanics of them.”
It’s a fascination that was made apparent through the duo’s trans-seasonal use of metallic embellishment to highlight lines of construction on the bodices of harnessed black, white and silver dresses cut in varying lengths; either in panelled cocktail numbers replete with Grammy dress-code-defying cut-outs or in the diaphanous knitted maxi numbers that closed the show.
Graphic contemporary jewellery in the form of breastplates and high-necked collars gave the collection a sense of the armourial, while signature sass & bide motifs – tribal inflections; bon-con dresses probably not apt for A/W and realised in what looks like chain-mail; a colour palette of black, white and silver punctuated by a delicious tarte citron/lemon curd yellow PVC vinyl dream like the chic-est hazmat suit – grounded Wintergate as another strong addition to the label’s singular vision of “beauty and femininity” that appeals so strongly to their tribes both here and abroad.
Les Misérables director Tom Hooper, Pixie Lott, Olivia Palermo and the Delevigne that isn’t Cara [Poppy] all attended the show’s front row.
It probably won’t keep you very warm come AW13 but who cares [because] Fashion.
