Earlier today we told you that Ray Johnstone – Australia‘s new best friend who took to Gumtree searching for a mate – has officially embarked on his Stradbroke Island escapade with brothers Mati and Peter Batsinilas, and it looks like the best time ever.
Tonight, 7 News literally hopped on the boat with Ray and friends, creating some of the best content the news cycle has to offer, which we are incredibly grateful for.
“I’m not as young as I used to be,” Ray chuckled as he lowered himself into the boat, and I cried. And as he felt the wind in his hair for the first time in yonks, his beautiful face broke out into the most euphoric smile you’ve ever seen.
The Batsinilas brothers continue to prove themselves to be the nicest blokes ever. “It’s not just about the fishing. It’s about relaxing, having a good time, just giving Ray that full experience,” Mati said, as he gave Ray high-fives and snapped pics of him as he reeled in his whiting.
Although it’s been a while, Ray reckoned he’s still “pretty good” at the whole fishing thing, which is probably pretty modest because, let’s get real, everything Ray does rocks.
He also shared a meal with the rest of the Batsinilas crew (obviously an entire family of legends). They laughed, they ate, and kept the holiday cheer alive. “Thank you for all you’ve done. I really appreciate it,” Ray said to Mati once it had all wrapped up. You can tell he’s genuinely stoked, and so are we.
