Like there isn’t already enough shit that can go horrifically wrong at airports – like crazed commercial pilots sabotaging competitors’ planes, or runaway bomb-sniffer puppies getting shot (RIP Grizz) – here’s some unsettling footage of a dust devil touching down at Brisbane Airport this afternoon.
Brissy‘s had a harsh and unusually dry summer this year. Today, though, the city has (finally) copped some traditional summer weather, with crackling heat in the morning followed by good old-fashioned storms in the arvo. Unfortunately the return to tradition may have gone slightly too far – like all the way back to a time when vengeful genies and evil-tempered elemental sprites shared the earth with us fleshy, terrified mortals.
We just had a ‘Dust Devil’ roll through BNE????. No damage, just soil & leaves on apron. A spectacular site nonetheless #BNEstorm pic.twitter.com/y9ZkcA6e5B

The Brissy Airport Twitter account seems unconcerned, but cop that dust vortex materialising out of thin air, presumably purely through force of rage, and disintegrating back to the void from whence it came, and tell me you don’t think it’s an omen of some more Twilight Zone shit to come.
