Round of applause for Aussie sports presenter Erin Molan, who was a bloody good sport about being completely drenched seconds before a live cross.
The TODAY show / Footy Show alum was prepping for a report from the Gabba ahead of today’s First Test when automatic sprinklers doused her and the Ch9 crew from top-to-toe.
Someone sitting in the stands managed to capture the moment for posterity, and it’s pretty great.
The crew rushes to shelter the equipment while Erin just stands there, resigned to her fate – crossing live to the worst / best possible person just seconds later, your boy Karl Stefanovic.
He obviously could *not* deal with the hilarity of the situation and co-host Sylvia Jeffreys was left to offer her sympathies as Erin gave a very LOL explanation of events while Karl pissed himself.
“We put a newspaper over it to block it [the sprinkler] because we thought it was going to progressively come along,” she said. “Turns out there’s more of them and they’re on a timer. I went to pick up the newspaper, because I’m an investigative journalist, to read it… I reckon someone from Channel 7’s up there in the control room just [turning the sprinkler on].”
The live cross died in the ass when Erin’s notes literally fell apart on-camera, but she handled that shit like a #boss.
“I’ll be back with some solid sporting news a little later on, maybe some valuable content,” she joked.
“We’ll see how we go.”
“We’ll see how we go.”
We hate to laugh at her misfortune, but we will anyway.
When sprinklers attack! You’re a good sport Erin Molan! #Today9
