Last night Channel 7’s light news program Sunday Night provided an intriguing insight into The boy from Broadmeadows AKA Serbian-born Australian supermodel and poster person for androgyny, Andrej Pejic. Reporter Rahni Sadler followed the singularly beautiful Pejic to Paris Fashion Week where she talks to one of the model’s biggest fans, Jean Paul Gaultier, who featured Pejic in both his A/W 2011 menswear show, and as a tulle-ensconced bride in his Couture 2011 collection show.
Andrej’s appearance is in itself an incredible documentary subject: beautiful, provocative and unique; but it was interesting to meet the man behind those stunning aesthetics too. His attitude toward the fashion world and what it represents is pretty tongue in cheek – it’s obvious he doesn’t take himself, his job or how he looks too seriously. This is a genuinely interesting profile and we applaud Sunday Night for picking up on the Andrej Pejic phenomenon as quickly as they did.
