WALLACE & GROMIT FANS REJOICE: The ‘Early Man’ Trailer Is A Stop-Motion Gem

How bloody good is Wallace and Gromit? So bloody good.
The stop-motion plasticine animated shorts like ‘A Close Shave‘ and ‘The Wrong Trousers‘ have been a comedy fixture since the late 80s, with creator Nick Park from Aardman Animations going on to achieve wild success with the genuinely funny kid’s film Chicken Run in 2000 and a full-length Wallace and Gromit flick in 2005.
Park’s wheelhouse is that uniquely British combination of good-natured silliness and wickedly dark comedy, and it’s just so charming.
So bust out the Wensleydale and crackers, because Park and his overbite-heavy creations are back. His new feature-length film is due out early next year and it looks just smashing.
Early Man has just dropped its first trailer, and introduces us, in classic Aardman claymation style (thank god – I’m just so sick of CG), to a tribe of hapless cavemen and our protagonist, Dug, who’s voiced by Eddie Redmayne
Apparently the film will follow a classic underdog journey plot, in which Dug and his pet boar Hognob have to defeat some evil Bronze Age overlord in order to protect their village.
Early Man has the full compliment of English talent doing the voice acting, including Tom Hiddleston, Game Of ThronesMaisie Williams, Richard Ayoade, Timothy Spall and Selena Griffiths
Nick Park spoke to the Independent about the film, saying that the characters are:
“A loveable bunch of misfits voiced by some exceptional British talent. They’re essentially a group of inept cavemen and women including Treebor, played by Richard Ayoade, a gentle giant scared of his own shadow; Magma, Treebor’s no nonsense mother voiced by Selena Griffiths and Mark Williams as Barry, whose best friend is a rock. Chief Bobnar, voiced by the brilliant Timothy Spall, leads the pack as their long-suffering leader, and father figure to his tribe of idiotic brutes.”
