Verner’s ‘Eat Cake’ Lets You Have Your Croissant Fanny Pack, Eat It Too

Ingrid Verner is celebrating something of a professional ménage à trois. Not only has she just relaunched her website and online store in occasion of her new collection ‘Eat Cake’, the cerebral Melbourne-based designer has also just opened her first bricks and mortar retail venture in Mitchell House – a space that’s appropriately both no nonsense and light-filled alike, built to house collections of which you could say the same.

‘Eat Cake’ – pictured above as worn by Liv Moore, shot by Nadeemy Betros and with H&MU by Jamie Minney – is one such example.
It’s as much, in Verner’s own words, “a pastiche of our tendency to romanticise the Parisian experience” as it is a question asking “why we fall so hard for places that aren’t our own, and allow our incessant cultural cringe to insist
that another’s culture is correct and superior.” It’s also eminently wearable – all gingham and volume with Japanese inflections – and features a croissant fanny pack that you’ll want to secure for your own ASAP
