Uber Wants To Pick Up Your ‘Donate To Charity’ Clothes Mountain This W/E

Donating unworn clothes is one of those things that’s always at the back of your mind but v. v. rarely gets done.
Well, the good folk over at Uber have partnered with Australian Red Cross for the second year in a row to make it *super* bloody easy to do the right thing, by coming around to do it for you.
Between 11am – 4pm this Sunday, May 28, drivers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney will happily come to your place and collect pre-loved items you’ve bagged up to drop-off at a local Red Cross store – free of charge and free of effort (on your part).
Once you’re in the Uber app, just slide across to the ‘CLOTHING DRIVE‘ option, hit ‘Request’ and a car will arrive in due course to rid you of your clutter.
Few things to remember before you get a-bagging:
– Only donate quality clothing and gifts: no one wants your deodorant-stained Bonds singlet.
– Red Cross can’t accept toys, books, furniture or electrical items, so only bag up clothes.
– Winter is just around the corner so cosy coats, scarves, beanies and jumpers are gratefully received.
– Drivers can’t leave their cars unattended, ‘cos theft, so be a pal and bring your bagged donations outside when it arrives.
Last year’s initiative helped raise more than $500,000 for the Red Cross and all the splendiferous work they do to support those in need, so let’s help them get to $1 million in 2017.
