Trump Has A Big Red Button On His Desk For When He Wants A Coke

The Associated Press have really, really buried the lede on their interview with Donald Trump about his largely ineffectual first 100 days in office. I mean that – they’ve really buried this. To me, this is the story.

A man accustomed to wealth and its trappings, Trump has embraced life in the Executive Mansion, often regaling guests with trivia about the historic decor. With the push of a red button placed on the Resolute Desk that presidents have used for decades, a White House butler soon arrived with a Coke for the president.

Am I led to believe that Trump has a big red button on his desk that deploys a butler with an ice-cold Coca-Cola whenever he presses it? The story doesn’t seem to imply that it was an intercom or anything like that. It doesn’t suggest that he specifically gave the instruction to bring him a Coke – the desire for a Coke was known.

The man is a known self-loathing Coke drinker, so perhaps the button was a very quick addition to the desk.

I like to think that it isn’t actually a new addition – they just rewired the nuclear launch button so that whenever he gets cranky and repeatedly presses it, they just bring him a Coke so he can drink it and calm down. That’s the best option.
God help us all.
