Topman Unveils The Denim Jacket Project

Heads up guys: denim jackets are happening. Again. Although a case could always be made for the fact that they never actually go anywhere else to begin with. But this is the fahshunz, and the fahshunz demand a story. So let’s say the story now is that the imminent release of the filmic adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s seminal opus of the beat generation, On The Road, is sure to spark a revival in the popularity of the iconic jean jacket. That, and who doesn’t want to look like Paul Newman circa Hud, or Steve McQueen circa all the time. It’s a good thing I’ve got your back (y’all can thank me later) as does Topman’s Denim Jacket Project.

Involved in the project are four British menswear designers who have all shown at Topman and Fashion East’s menswear initiative MAN, New Gen Men or previous collaborated with Topman previously, including Oliver Spencer, Lou Dalton, Katie Eary and Shaun Sampson. In addition to that, one of New York’s most hyped menswear designers and purveyor of a mean coloured-sole brogue, Mark McNairy, hems off an extremely impressive line-up.

Asymmetrical denim bikers, detachable shearling collars lined with leopard print, tromp l’oeil mesh backing and polka dots in raw and washed denim form the basis of a collection so strong you’ll start to wonder why you weren’t wearing a Canadian tuxedo last time you said ‘I do’ to anything.
