INTRODUCING

PEDESTRIAN.TV’S FIT SQUAD

From L – R: Chloe Chapman, Caitlyn Paterson, Nike Trainer Phoebe Di Tommaso, Brooke Hogan, and Carissa Walford.

CHLOE CHAPMAN

Meet Chloe Chapman, model, fitspiration, and owner of deluxe Aussie swimwear brand Aloé Swimwear. Being a business owner and designer keeps Chloe at the office for long hours, but it’s no 9 – 5pm job, and she thrives on the flexibility that her lifestyle offers her.

“I’m on my own schedule, which is awesome. I like to get up in the morning, have my breakfast, have my smoothie. I don’t go to the gym that much, but when I do, I like to go first thing in the morning. I feel better after, way more focused.”
Chloe’s all about hot yoga and pilates, usually, but is looking forward to really committing to this year’s NTC Challenge, and to working toward her goals of toning up and getting fit with the rest of the NTC Squad.
“I actually wanna give it my all, last year i don’t think I gave it my all, I felt like the naughty kid at school,” she said, saying that she finds it hard to stay motived like the rest of us.
“I think a lot of people struggle with that commitment, you kinda get halfway through [a fitness regime] and then you give up, but I think it’s really important that you have other girls around you. It’s super cool that I get to do it with these girls. We can call each other up, and I was already chatting to Caitlyn about going and doing the Palm Beach Lighthouse run together and doing a little workout up the top there.”
Chloe’s advice for staying motivated is to snag an exercise buddy, find an exercise you love, and don’t pay attention to the scales, and to work your way up slowly.
“Start with a 30 minute workout, then go to 45 minutes, go to an hour. Don’t try to smash yourself because then it’s all over, you kill yourself on day one and then you need a week to recover. It just doesn’t work. And you need to keep going even when you’re a bit sore and you think that it’s the end of the world. You need to be like ‘okay no, it’s good for me to keep going’ and push yourself.”

CAITLYN PATERSON

Caitlyn is a full-time model and blogger who’s all about being out and about in nature.
“I love the water and the beach, so I have to make sure I spend a lot of time at the beach. It’s the only thing that clears my head so I’m just focused for the rest of the day. I need water time,” she emphasises.
When she’s not busy working, Caitlyn keeps up the hectic schedule with acting lessons, saying that she wants to “explore different characters, people who are totally different to [her]”.
When it comes to fitness, though, Caitlyn was quick to express the importance of understanding your body.
“I started with yoga and pilates, [which gets] your body strong, and you really learn about your body and how it works, because it focuses on each muscle and how it works. Once you start with that, you know, you can step it up and incorporate more training, try new things.”
And as for what she’s looking forward to this NTC Tour, Caitlyn said that she just wants to see how far Phoebe can push her.

“It’s fun to work with a group of people, as well. These girls are really inspiring people, so it’s good to work with girls who influence what people look up to these days, which is being healthy, fit, active, eating right and working out. That’s what everyone needs, is inspiration and motivation, and I think they’ll inspire and motivate me along the way too!”

BROOKE HOGAN

“I’m a fitness model, and I guess part of my job is making sure that I look healthy, keep fit and work out a lot. It’s a massive part of my life,” Brooke says of how exercise fits into her lifestyle.
Brooke stresses that she’s “not too picky” about what she looks like, but tells us that her goals for the NTC Tour are to “just get healthy and fit and have energy and feel good.”
“I wanna jump in a bikini and be like ‘I feel great!’” she said. She tells us that in modelling it’s very easy to become super critical of your own appearance, so she actively tries not to be too hard on herself, choosing to focus on health and fitness rather than appearance.
“I’m excited to get fit with the squad,” Brooke shared. “These girls are so lovely and so fun, and I’m excited to get to know Phoebe and work with her toward my goals.”
So what advice does a fit AF gal like Brooke have for us? Sweating, mixing up the exercises, and keeping it consistent are the key to success.
“Do anything that makes you sweat. You know, people hate cardio, but obviously, anything that makes you sweat is doing something great to your body,” she said. “And mix it up a bit, maybe do ten minutes on the bike, ten minutes on the treadmill, maybe even just do some floorwork; maybe you can do a few push-ups, or sit-ups.”

“Anything you do, it needs to be consistent. You can’t train for a week and expect to jump in a bikini and be super happy with yourself, you know, it doesn’t happen like that. Work your way up, don’t just jump in and do a two-hour workout ‘coz the next day you’ll not wanna do it, you’ll wake up and be wrecked. If you start out and do a little bit of exercise maybe five or six days a week, you can build yourself up to getting fitter and more confident. Don’t get disheartened in the first week or two ‘coz it will happen!”

CARISSA WALFORD

“I’m so excited to actually get into shape. One of my new years resolution’s for 2016 was to really get fit, and not just look skinny and be toned – that’s all well and good – but to be able to feel strong, and to develop that mental ability you get from working out to continue a really busy week. To be given this opportunity to work out and get fit is pretty amazing!” Carissa shared.
Carissa leads a hectic life, interviewing musicians from all over, hitting up red carpets left, right and centre. To balance it out, she loves to meditate.
“I really love meditating, in my downtime. I just really like to balance out a hectic day, or balance out my thoughts when my mind is going a hundred miles an hour, I like to chill out, go to the beach. I also like taking Nanna naps, too, which I’ve heard is not a bad thing. You have to have a rest, to recover.”

For Carissa, mixing it up and working around her schedule has been the key to success in her fitness regime.
“I try to exercise as much as I can and keep it really fun. I’ll do a dance class, or I’ll go do an F45 training class in the morning to start the day, before heading to an interview. I keep it to one class or one form of movement a day. It’s very spontaneous and I like to keep it that way, so it’s fun and working out doesn’t become a chore.”
As for staying motivated, she acknowledges that it can be “really hard,” but that setting achievable personal goals has helped her.
“You kind of have to find it within yourself to be motivated and to have those personal goals. It’s all very well and good to look at models and aspire to that, but it can be unrealistic. You just wanna focus on personal goals that are achievable and just try and get into really good habits. That will keep you motivated.”

We’ll be covering the whole NTC Tour this year, so stay tuned for more features and excitement leading up to the event. If you and your squad haven’t signed up yet, you can register HERE.
