The bill calling for a same-sex marriage plebiscite has just been voted down in the Senate.
It’s dead.
By a margin of 29 in favour to 33 against, the Upper House voted to end the campaign for a popular vote on the issue of marriage equality.
On the other hand, the bill’s detractors have tirelessly campaigned against the vote’s exorbitant cost, the seriously damaging rhetoric it would likely bring, and its overall pointlessness.
Now, it definitely bloody appears the Federal Government has been sent a message – that the parliament should just do its job and just vote on the issue of marriage equality, once and for all.
