The Next Crop: Graduate Designer Showcase At LMFF

Amongst the LMFF schedule of junkets for major retailers, awkward sponsored parades and uninspiring workshop/seminar pap, is ‘Metamorphosis’ – the Student Showcase that provides recent graduate designers with a platform to show off their talent in a professional domain – and often draws the biggest crowds of the entire program.

The Metamorphosis show was presented on Wednesday night with support from Sportsgirl, featuring the work of 12 designers.

Here are some of our favourite looks:

DANIELLE VAN CAMP Harlequin pants and ruffles? Yes please!

JAQUELINE TYRRELL Futuristic silk executed beautifully.

CHRISTIANA LIVADITIS Some really progressive designs in terms of pushing art to challenge wearability. A really cohesive mini-collection. Exciting.

GEORGIA LAZZARO Futuristic and sinister with epic pleats. Tilda Swinton would look crazy good in this frock.

ROBYN TAGART Monochrome meets pastels – styling inspired by Nicholas Ghesquiere’s collection for Balenciaga A/W 2010

PRUFROCK Delicate layers and hair on the chest.
