The FBI Confirms It’s Looking Into Claims Russia Helped Trump Become Prez

FBI Director James Comey said his agency has no evidence to support President Donald Trump’s unsubstantiated claims that the Obama administration ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower during the 2016 Presidential Election.

Speaking before a congressional hearing, Comey said “with respect to the president’s tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets.”

Comey said the answer was the same over at the Department of Justice, meaning two cornerstones of America’s intelligence and legal community have found nada to corroborate Trump’s claim that “Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower before my victory.”

Also confirmed: an FBI’s investigation into whether the Russian government was actively trying to skew the election in Trump’s favour.
While the agency stated it is now looking into Russia’s possible meddling in the campaign, Comey said it currently has no information to share and no opinion on the matter, outside of the fact Russian President Vladimir Putin “hated Secretary Clinton so much that the flip side of that coin was he had a clear preference for the person running against the person he hated so much.”

Of course, Trump has a different perspective on the matter entirely. Before the hearing, he labelled the potential for illegal cooperation between the two entities “fake news”.

Expect an update on this one in the coming weeks.
