The 2013 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Winners And Losers

Hey everybody it’s the Grammy Awards, the American music industry’s night of nights. There’s singing and music and awards – Gotye already won two of them! – and there is, of course, FASHION. Let’s take a look at who wore what on the Grammys red carpet.

Beaming co-winner of the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy, Kimbra, is in a costumey custom-made tulle and beaded frock by her go-to designer of choice, Perth’s Jaime Lee Major.

Kelly Osbourne looks quite fabulous in this chic black Paule Ke number. Love the sleek hair and gold jewellery too.

Capri pants are the best part of what this LMFAO person Redfoo is wearing, which says it all really.

You can only get away with wearing a mariachi outfit if you ARE a mariachi or a tiny perfect creature like Janelle Monae.

Guys what the heck is going on with Lupe Fiasco here? The ludicrous length of his shirt and jacket don’t concern me that much, because I’m so alarmed that he’s wearing rolled up harem pants over what are either socks or those horrendous rubbery shoes that look like socks but aren’t. Terrible, either way.

Justin Timberlake generally looks pretty smart wearing a suit & tie, but the hologram effect of his Tom Ford jacket makes it look as though he’s standing near an immense water feature.

What’s with the sneer Carly Rae Jepson? Stop calling her, maybe? She wears a pretty but forgettable beaded pewter gown by Roberto Cavalli.

My boy Skrilly actually looks pretty chic in his Fred Perry jacket. Kudos.

Dick.

Grammy-winning Adele is generally splendid but this appliqued red Valentino frock looks like a giant tapestry wall-hanging.

Wiz Khalifa is the best dressed man at the entire show. You’ll realise once you get over his facial expression, which is that of someone watching an incredible cake get iced.

A very pretty white J. Mendel dress that fits perfectly, but Taylor Swift always wears something like this. Boring.

… Her performance outfit is another matter entirely. Yikes.

You know what, I’m digging this look on Natasha Bedingfield. It’s from the Emerson Spring 2013 collection and reveals enough tasteful sections of skin to be sexy but elegant. Love the red on her and the makeup and hair are a win.

Keith Urban is wearing filthy shoes and Nicole is in something-or-other gold couture which is pretty boring, especially at an event like the Grammys where people like John Mayer can upstage you…

… in a ridiculous purple velvet suit and vertical hair.

Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine references The Wiggles with her customised Givenchy gown which looks like the Dorothy The Dinosaur suit if it was made by a French couturier (and not in a good way).

Beyonce surprises everyone by choosing a monochrome Osman onesie instead of a gown. I’m into it.

YES GIRL. Rihanna is stunning in custom Alaia. The sheer crossover section around the bodice is #sexy and #nipple revealing.

When I first saw Kelly Rowland in her striking Georges Chakra couture gown and uninspiring hair I was all “I don’t think you can handle this” but on closer inspection the lady looks strong and fierce and other adjectives used in Destiny’s Child songs with her amazing figure and those geometric cut outs.

Solange looks gorgeous in beaded emerald Ralph & Russo Couture and hot pink Louboutin pumps.

Alexa Chung goes girly and quite casual in Valentino Red – quite a departure from her typically boyish-cool vibe, but she could wear a dog blanket and still look beautiful. The makeup is flawless and her shoes are great but the dress is underwhelming.

Grammy winner Frank Ocean is a handsome and understated in electric blue letterman jacket-inspired suit. Do note the Band-Aid from his recent rumble with Chris Brown.

Hi Katy Perry‘s boobs.

See:

J-Lo is stoked with her one-shoulder Anthony Vaccarello gown, fabulous shoes and single leg.

File under: conversations I want to be included in.

This lady is my new favourite person:
